Some of Our Popular Therapeutic Modalities Include:
Low Level Laser Therapy
Low-level laser therapy is an FDA-approved therapeutic physical modality which involves the application of infrared light to a specific area of injury. Light energy penetrates the skin and is absorbed by cells, increasing mitochondrial function, ATP, RNA, and protein synthesis, which enhances normal cellular activities and functions. Effects of low-level laser therapy include but are not limited to: increased circulation and formation of capillaries, reduced or eliminated acute and chronic pain, reduced inflammation and swelling, improved nerve function, repairs to the bone and soft tissue, and increases in mobility and muscle function.
Electrical Stimulation & Ultrasound
Electrical stimulation and ultrasound are typically used for pain control and the facilitation of tissue healing. Ultrasound may be used to increase the metabolic rate of tissue, increase extensibility of collagen, increase blood flow and tissue healing, and decrease pain and muscle spasms. Electrical stimulation uses electrical currents to increase strength and prevent disuse atrophy, stimulate sensory nerves to reduce pain, and stimulate or alter the healing process of injured tissue to prevent scar tissue.
Cervical & Lumbar Traction
Therapeutic spinal traction uses manually or mechanically created forces to stretch and mobilize the spine. Traction may be applied as a continuous force or intermittently. Traction may alleviate pain by stretching tight spinal muscles that result from spasm and widen intervertebral foramen to relieve nerve root impingement. Techniques applied in spinal traction are dependent in part on the patient's physical condition, disorder, individual tolerance, and the spinal level(s) being treated.
